A Bloggers' Code Of Ethics

Over on cyberjournalist.net they have come up with a bloggers code of ethics, most of which are common sense really,

Be Honest and Fair
Bloggers should be honest and fair in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.

Minimize Harm
Ethical bloggers treat sources and subjects as human beings deserving of respect.

Be Accountable
Each of these are just headings and there are many sub guidelines. I think the main problem is that it's total unenforceable.

After all unless a blog is read by thousands of people a day, lesser read blogs can get away with many of the things listed in the code, most obvious being Never plagiaris.

I think it's far to tempting for bloggers to copy and past, after all if your going to link to a blog why not simple copy and past the content on to yours, It's more convenient for your readers, save them going to two site rather than one.

Obviously not a view of my own, you can look at any of my post's. Most have more than one link and I always post a link when quoting, other wise you could wright anything in quotes and it would be true,

"Mark Twain liked to have sex with pig's"

.......Miss Twain
See how easy it is to make something up, there does how ever need to be some accountability for bloggers. The code if followed is step in the right direction, but we are not there yet.
