Happy, Chinese New Year!
I was out and about to day in Liverpool for Chinese new year and thought i would share a few of my shots with you.
Taken from the roof of the Far East, I remembered they had a car park up there, I used to go the Far East all the time when my Granddad was a live, I am sure he used to know the owner or something as we always ended up sitting at the biggest table in there surrounded by 3 huge fish tanks.

I nearly did my ankle in jumping back down off the way god it was scare, tip for the future take step ladder, one journalist ended up handing his camera to the kids on the wall to take shots for him.
There must have been around 40 people at least involved in following the fire works cage around, that thing had more security than the queen!
The Dragon seamed to make an emergence pit stop at one point to fix the head and every one ran down in front of it to take some photos, So thought may as well do some crowd shots, who watches the watchers and all that..

Canon 400D / Rebel XTi
As an early Christmass present to my self I went out and got my self a Canon 400d or Digital Rebel XTi if you live in the USA. I went for the Body and standard kit lens a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens.
I have found it to be grate investment, I think the pictures speak for them self, with in 30 days of buying this camera I had my first photograph in the local paper!

I have found the camera to be grate for every thing from shots of my dog to full on night shoots out in town.
But enough about me lets talk tec for a little The 400d comes loaded with features,
- 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor captures enough detail for photo-quality 18 x 24-inch prints
- Large 2.5-inch LCD display; includes Canon's EF-S 18-55mm, f3.5-5.6 zoom lens
- New self-cleaning dust function, plus Dust Delete Data Detection in included software
- DIGIC II Image Processor provides fast, accurate image processing; Picture Style settings for added creative control
- Stores images on Compact Flash (CF) memory cards; powered by battery pack NB-2LH
Thou I should warn you once you start buying there is no stopping I am already on the look out for two new lens from the canon L series range (L is the very best canon make so don't be put off by the price of these, there are cheaper lens made both by canon and others, but for the very best results its got to be an L lens.) the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM Telephoto Zoom Lens UK/USA.
As well as a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens UK/USA
Don't let those prices but you off one of canon's best kept secrets is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens a steal at £60/$80. For the price of it this lens takes incredible shots.
So what are you waiting for go get your self, Canon 400d or Digital Rebel XTi and get out there and get taking photographs and who knows where you shots could end up, if I can do it any one can!

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
I have just sat down and watched all 27 eps of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Now watching a series all in one go means ether one of two things grabbing hold of the ep's and holding on to them till its all finished with (I don't think I could ever do that I would have to watch them after getting them no mater what it was.), or waiting and hoping that there are still good sources to get all the ep's from in one go when the show is over and done with and every one else has watched it.
I find there are other advantages and disadvantages, the main two for me being, you get to watch the show with perfect continuity you don't miss any thing your not trying to remember stuff from months ago, all those complicated plot lines and you only tend to watch one animé at a time. On the other hand you don't half get board of watching the same intro and ending far to many times in one go and I tend to skip the end so I tend to miss the funny jokes at the end after the titles in stuff like Bleach, but no grate loss for me.
I digress back to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Or translated to English, "Break-Through Heaven Gurren Lagann" or more loosely "Heaven Shattering Gurren Lagann". Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, written by Kazuki Nakashima, animated by Gainax and co-produced by Aniplex and Konami.
The serious starts of underground where all humans are forced to live in some post apocalyptic future. Mankind is forced to live in small villages dug out of the ground and is forbidden to go to the surface, The villagers are forced to spend their time digging out more space due to frequent earthquakes.
This Is where we find our two male hero characters,
Simon, Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara , Takayuki Sugo
Simon is a fourteen year-old digger from Giha village. Although he is initially looked down because of it, Simon excels at drilling through the underground, while the drill itself quickly becomes his trademark symbol.

Simon through his role as digger stumbles upon at first a key and then large robot face. Before he can tell any one however there is a giant earth quake and a giant robot called Gunmen drops into the village when the earth above collapses and it starts to destroy everything in site.
It's prity much standard fair from there, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is your standard fighting robot anime. Thou it some how manges to make the characters the centre of the plot and the robots mearley tools (thou I must admit at the end in the last ep it gets a bit silly with a robot so big its classed as a sub universe but don't let that put you off it) The story is very well written and the characters very well developed with lots of back story for the main hero's.
I am going to highly recommend Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and give it 7 out of 10, my only complaints being that it probably could have been 2 to 3 eps shorter and those last view eps did seam a bit silly especially the aforementioned sub universe sized robot, thou it does have new and interesting ideas which I have not seen before in anime, thou it does not mean they have not been used before.
